Each year, Americans observe Memorial Day on the last Monday of May. This national holiday was originally named Decoration Day which began just after the Civil War in honor of soldiers who died on both sides. After World War I, commemoration was extended to include all men and women who died in any war or military action for America. On Memorial Day many people visit cemeteries and memorials to pay respect to their love once. It is also traditionally seen as the unofficial start of the summer season. Salute to all our fallen soldiers and to their families.
